About Robert
Robert L. Wise was an archbishop in the Communion of Evangelical Episcopal Churches, and spent decades in parish ministry before that. His vocation is not a footnote to his fiction. His spiritual work is a detective's work run backward: people arrive already knowing what happened, and the task is finding out what it cost them (and how to find absolution).
He was born Jewish and adopted as a child during World War II. Readers of his novels will recognize what that inheritance does to a story: the hidden name, the sheltering stranger, the archive that remembers what everyone else agreed to forget.
The result is a body of work that refuses the usual borders. Fifty-five published books. Ghost author of six more, including New York Times bestseller Death of Innocence (The Jon Benet Ramsey Story). Research trips to Germany, London, Italy, and beyond, standing in the very places his books are set.
He lives in Oklahoma and Colorado with his wife, Margueritte, and continues writing.
